How to upload a volunteer opportunity

Navigate to the Upload page

In the top bar, click the create button. Then select "Upload New Opportunity" to begin creating your volunteer opportunity.

Step 1: Essential Information

Fill in the required basic information: Enter a descriptive name for your opportunity, provide a detailed description of what volunteers will be doing, add contact information (either email or website - at least one is required), and specify the location using either a postcode or full address.

Group Association (Optional)

If you are an admin of an group, you can link this opportunity to your group. This allows for consistent branding and makes it easier to manage multiple opportunities. Select your group from the dropdown if available.

Step 2: Additional Details - Categories

Choose a main category that best describes your opportunity (e.g., Environment/Conservation, Community, Health). Then select a more specific subcategory. Also choose the appropriate region and set any age restrictions for volunteers.

Step 2: Schedule and Timing

Set up when your opportunity is available. Choose between "Ongoing" (no end date) or "Date Range" (specific start and end dates). Select which days of the week it runs, or choose "Not Specified" if flexible. You can also select specific dates within your date range if needed.

Step 2: Booking System (Optional)

Enable the booking system if you want people to reserve spots directly through the platform. Set a maximum number of bookings per date if using this feature. This helps you manage volunteer numbers and provides a streamlined experience for users.

Step 2: Social Media and Privacy

Add social media links to help volunteers learn more about your opportunity. Set the visibility level: Public (visible to everyone), Members Only (visible to registered users), or Private (only visible to you). You can also add additional social media platforms as needed.

Step 3: Customise Appearance

Choose how your opportunity appears on the map. Upload a custom marker image or select from predefined icons. If linked to an group, you can use the group logo. Select a sidebar image that will appear in the opportunity details, or use the same image as your marker.

Step 3: Preview and Submit

Use the preview function to see how your opportunity will look on the map and in the sidebar. Check that all information is correct, ensure your marker and images display properly, then click Submit to publish your opportunity.

Managing Your Opportunity

After submission, you can manage your opportunity from your profile. Navigate to Profile > Opportunities to view all your uploaded opportunities. You can edit details, change visibility from public to private, or delete opportunities as needed.
