Open the map
Tap Map in the bottom bar, or click Map in the top navigation. Every opportunity on the platform appears twice: as a pin on the map, and as a tile in the list beside it. Clicking either one opens the same preview.
Find volunteering near you
Search your area
Type a UK postcode into the search box at the top and press Search. The map recentres on you, and every tile starts showing how far away it is. Until you search a postcode the app has no idea where you are, so distances and the Nearest sort stay unavailable.
Choose how results are ordered
The Recommended and Nearest buttons sit next to the search box. Searching a postcode switches you to Nearest automatically, which puts the closest opportunities first; without one it stays unavailable. Recommended is simply the order everything arrives in — it is not ranked by relevance, so if distance matters to you, leave it on Nearest.
Narrow it down
Press Filters to open the filter sheet. You can filter by category and sub-category, by a day of the week, by age restriction, by a date range, and by whether the opportunity has a team channel. You can also switch between showing opportunities, groups, or both. Anything you switch on appears as a pill under the search box — tap the × on a pill to drop just that one, or Clear all to start again.
Filter by the kind of commitment
Above the results are four chips: All, Events, Ongoing and Help wanted. These are the three shapes volunteering takes on the platform. Events happen on set dates you can book. Ongoing roles are a regular commitment with a typical weekly pattern. Help wanted is open-ended — no dates, just a group that needs people.
Save anything you are interested in
Tap the heart on a tile, or in the preview panel, to save it. Saved opportunities appear under Saved Opportunities on your profile and as dashed entries in your calendar. The heart button at the top of the map shows only your saved items — note that while it is on, your other filters are set aside.
Look before you commit
Clicking a tile opens the preview beside the map, with the description, the group it belongs to, and what to do next. View full details opens the complete page, including the location map, contact details and any links the group has added.
